The Sleek Music & Production Studio is a record label headquartered at Nairobi, Kenya, founded in 2010 by rapper N’Nuel and his manager Gabriel Odunga, after the highly successful release of N’Nuel’s debut album, Lord My Life Without You in 2011. Both serve as the label’s presidents. The Sleek Music runs under its shortened name as an associate business of its parent company The Sleek PLC.
Since its formation and official launch in 2020 to accommodate external talents, The Sleek has signed six acts and is currently home to eleven. It has also been part of the business venture in The Sleek Television and The Sleek Radio via The Sleek Digital, and had its own dedicated special edition magazine via The Sleek Magazine. Tough times were seen when N’Nuel, along with the artists
were involved in the music industry spectrum of a less developed country with minimal arts activities.
The Sleek has also seen positive times when being part of the successful international Youth Development campaigns of the United Nations and, in 2019, released an EP showcasing its then-roster on N’Nuel’s Mister Money Boy Edition. It was also The Sleek to be contracted for putting together the sound track to N’Nuel’s -starring film #TheIntern, which had the lead single “My Story”.
The Sleek’s acts over the years have earned certifications of global recognition on the effectiveness of The Sleek’s application of music as a Media Diplomacy tool in policy engagement between decision makers and decision takers. Previous acts include N’Nuel, Donnah Israel, King Dantimax, James Passi, Ruth Star with a professional team of Media Experts in production management including Gabriel Odunga (CEO), Paccy Bwoy (Audio Producer) and Mister Muatha (In-house story teller) and Specioza Njoki (Administrator).
Every year, The Sleek Music collaborates with The Sleek Academy in a 3 year programme which enables four intakes to register ten artistes in a quarterly phase and provides various developmental skills aimed at empowering and modelling Artistes from various settings as better active agents of development in their communities.
