Ruth Star and her brother separated from their dad after their mum passed on in their early years. This was after prolonged family misunderstanding and misrepresentation coming from her father’s neglection on the two children and opting to live on with two other step mothers. Ruth was now forced to take up the sole bread winner role for the two siblings. They moved to Good Samaritan orphanage in Nairobi’s Mathare Slums but life had to go on. Ruth dropped off school at Standard 5 so that she could go out, hustle and feed her small brother as well as meet the brother’s school fee. The brother is said to be completing high school education in 2020.
Personal Life
Ruth Star now resides in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital. She has had her share of tussles even though without enough without muscle over the years. She is sister to one (name of brother missing) who she continues to support and play the motherly role as well
as sister. Ruth Star shared her story of her lifetime exposure to child-hood labor, however, she is grateful to such opportun

When other teenagers were playing and teasing each other with video games, she was the house help, believing in a “STAR” future that she had no idea how to get there. She also worked as mama fua and water girl when she released her first video song, (Umeniwezesha) from her “Umeniwezesha album” produced at Toshlink Media and Bethuel Photography.
Ruth Star is single with no rumors of a dating relationship just yet. However, she is known to have a good working relationship with one Kenyan deejay who is secretly said to have backed her music career especially through the areas of branding. Ruth however, maintains that this is purely a working relationship despite frequently sending overwhelming thanks messages to the young deejay.
Music Life
“I put all my many years savings together to make my first album. It was time for me to take action” said Ruth in a previous interview. adding that, “I

knew I needed more money before I could start because music is an expensive and risky venture, but it was all I had, and I had to try to try and change my life and that of my brother.” However strong and firmly she narrates her story, she cannot hide the pain as she shares memory of the day she approached Size 8 Reborn, a female gospel musician in Kenya and wife to a top gospel deejay, Dj Mo, to support ,her with playing her video to get some m

ileage on her Pambio Live show, aired to millions of viewers on Maisha magic. “Some guy alikuwa nadhani producer wa show aliangalia tu hivi video yangu akanicheka, akaniambia sijui kuvaa, ona hizi, nini hizi umevaa kwa music video sasa. Niliskia vibaya, lakini that is all I could afford. (A producer for Size 8’s Pambio Live show on Maisha Magic Tv viewed my video and paused it and started to laugh at me telling me that I don’t know how to dress, what are these you wearing in a music video. I felt humiliated because that video was all my wealth put together. It was all I could afford) .
It was after this that she signed up to a music offer by Producer Vicky Pon Dis and founder of Simba Sounds Productions where she released a single on YouTube titled (In Love).
Ruth was a work friend of MC James Passi, founder of High Notch Creatives, an events company based in Nairobi who introduced her to The Sleek Music when he invited her to feature in his music video as a lead singer of his song “KAMATA” released early 2020. This is where she signed up to a sponsored deal through The Sleek Academy fund offered to support young musicians working with The Sleek Music and recorded her her LP of six tracks in 2020.
